John Boyd Hats
My time working at John Boyd Hats played an integral role in shaping me as a Milliner. We were so lucky to learn from John Boyd himself who had been making hats for 75 years and was a true inspiration. He also gave us our own freedom to design hats for the shop, allowing us to develop as a designer as well as a maker. This was enhanced by the other side to my role which was to see the clients on a one to one basis, allowing me to see first hand what type of hat was flattering for each individual and therefore honing my design skills even further.
Alongside working with John Boyd I also learnt alot from Sarah Marshall who has continued to run and now owns the brand since Mr Boyds passing. It was a wonderful place to work with many champagne parties to balance out the long hours we did during Ascot season. Here is a small snap shot of some of the hats I designed and made for the brand.
