Ellie has been practising Millinery since 2010 and makes couture hats and headpieces for weddings, races, events as well as commissions for TV, Film and exhibition projects. Using traditional millinery techniques and a variety of materials her designs show her love of colour, elegant simplicity and style. She makes each hat by hand creating an object of beauty and exquisite craftsmanship which, Ellie believes, adds to the magic of wearing a couture hat.
After gaining a BA Hons in Contemporary Crafts from Falmouth College of Arts Ellie began her Millinery career in London, training with several top UK Milliners before being offered a post as Designer/Maker for Royal Milliner John Boyd in 2012. Over the next six years she developed her millinery skills and worked closely with individual clients at the Knightsbridge atelier, designing the perfect hat for each customer to look and feel fabulous.
Working at John Boyd Hats played an integral role in shaping Ellie as a Milliner, especially having the chance to learn from John Boyd himself who had been making hats for 75 years and was a true inspiration. John Boyd gave Ellie freedom to design hats for the shop, allowing her to develop as a designer as well as a maker.
Ellie now draws on this wealth of knowledge and skill to design and make beautiful couture hat collections each year under her own name as well as collaborating with stylists and designers on a variety of commissions for TV, film, music videos and theatre.
In 2022 Ellie became a member of The British Hat Guild and was awarded a QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) Scholarship for Millinery.
