#tbt to the days when I worked for Royal Milliner John Boyd in Knightsbridge. As you can see the workroom was a crazy creative hub and attached to this is the beautiful showroom full of over 200 hats! Part of my job was to advise and help customers find the perfect hat to suit them and the special occasion. I loved this aspect of my role and learnt so much about what suits different people and the shapes, angles and balance that made a truly great hat!
And yes i am wearing the copy I made of the petal teardrop shape on the dummy head 🙂 #training #milliner #trade #craft #traditionalskills #hats #ellievallerinihats #johnboydhats
Now that’s what I call a stylish bride. Such a beautiful couple and loving the red jumpsuit with my Flame Feather hat.
I love creating bespoke pieces tailored to suit the client and event and it’s such a wonderful feeling when someone tries on thier hat for the first time. Knowing they have something handmade and unique to them really adds to the special experience of wearing a couture hat.

I had such a wonderful weekend teaching at WestDean College. What a talented bunch I had, some had never done millinery before and by the end of the course walked away with a finished hat with handmade and dyed flowers! And they all looked good on…. I’m very impressed!
